MADEMOISELLE PARADIS

Vienna, 1777. The highly talented pianist Maria Theresia Paradis has been blind since the age of three. Resi, as she is known to family and friends, is taken by her desperate parents to see Franz Anton Mesmer; it is believed that he can perform miracle cures. Placing their daughter in the care of Mesmer is her parents’ last hope. Alongside a colourful group of other patients in Mesmer’s chateaux, she also meets the maid Agnes, who becomes a crucial ally. Soon, step by step, she really does begin to regain her eyesight – but in the process loses her virtuoso abilities as a pianist…
